Jim Budd founded BOHO. Jim is described by a colleague and friend:
“Unrelenting brilliant, incredibly eloquent and dedicated to the issues of homelessness in both a personal and professional level, Jim Budd founded Boulder Outreach for Homeless Overflow (BOHO) in order to provide emergency warming shelters to Boulder’s homeless on cold winter nights when the local shelter was overflowing its capacity. His dedication to the principle that homeless people should be involved in designing and running BOHO reflected Jim’s roots as a lifelong member of the Rainbow Family of Living Light. Originally from southern California, Jim traveled the country in refurbished school buses, by hitchhiking and sometimes in more mundane ways. His varied life experiences brought him into contact with bikers, bankers, drug dealers and social workers, and his passion for justice and equality meant he could talk to anyone of those groups in language that they fundamentally understood. Jim has moved onto Portland, OR. We hope, in his own words, that he is “keeping his chin up, eyes forward and walking into the light.”
We agree and couldn’t say it better.
