The last few days of 2010 are hard on the homeless. Not only are the temperatures in the single digits, but the public buildings of Boulder, like the libraries, are closed leaving folks without a home with few options. The Carriage House Community Table is open–including 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on New Year’s Day–but it can’t accommodate the large number of people needing to be in out of the cold.
So…the City of Boulder requested that BOHO open a day warming center over the holidays.
On Friday, December 31, starting at 1 p.m. the day warming center will be at Crestview Church, 3665 Madison Ave (on Madison & 36th between Aurora & Colorado). To get there by bus, take RTD: 209 on Aurora; STAMPEDE on Colorado; 209 & BOUND on 30th.
On Saturday, January 1, from 10 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. the day warming center will be at Cornerstone Church, 190 S Lashley Lane (south of Table Mesa & one block east of Broadway). To get there by bus take the RTD: SKIP. And then the day warming center will move back to Crestview Church from 4:00 p.m. until the night EWC starts at 7:00 p.m. (which will also be at Crestview).
